Modestly Chic
Michelle wore this pale yellow suit and animal-print scarf with turquoise fringe while visiting Jakarta's Istiqlal Mosque. Very modest yet still sartorial. {Source: DailyMail}.

Party Cardi!
Love Michelle's spring cardigan, high waisted pants, and melon top! So cute. Bo is looking good too! Michelle and Bo spent some time with executive staffers' kids during "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day" at the White House last week. From The Washington Post.

Power to the Purple!
The First Lady has been rocking the color purple during a lot of meetings with other First Ladies. Love it! It's definitely sarting to feel more springy in DC, and I love the bright colors!

Pretty Pretty Purple
The First Lady rocked a plum Isaac Mizrahi ensemble at President Obama's State of the Union address. Speaker Pelosi, Vice President Biden, and the First Lady all chose to wear a shade of purple. Were they trying to send a message of bipartisanship to the US? Seen on the White House Flickr. Photo by Pete Souza.

Perfect D.C. Winter Outfit
This is the perfect outfit for Washington D.C., because everyone wears basic colors (black, navy, gray, white, tan) so she looks very appropriate and it is warm enough for this city. I love her coat, leather gloves, and cute bag. This outfit is both warm and dressy casual, but it is not frumpy. You go girl! Image taken by Olivier Douliery and seen in the L.A. Times.

Surprise!
The First Lady made a surprise appearance on the White House tour on January 20, 2010, which marked the one-year anniversary of Obama's presidency.
I love her outfit here. I am in D.C. and can attest to the cold weather, but rather than a pantsuit she opted for a dressy coat and flat boots. Both stylish and weather appropriate.
While shopping for clothes to intern in, my friends and I kept saying "we want a Michelle suit, not a Hillary suit!" I love Hillary, but I prefer Michelle's method of dressing up. From the White House Flickr. Picture by Pete Souza.
